5. Importance of Wearing Veil Regulation

As explained at the beginning of this booklet, we believe that our church must restore the “new covenant gospel” of Jesus Christ, which has not been altered, through the deep study of the full truth of the early church. We believe that the ordinances for woman to wear a veil on her head should be followed according to the apostles’ teaching.

This doctrine can be divided into pros and cons from different denominations. However, we do not want to be ashamed of anyone else. It is because the regulation of wearing a veil is at the center of our church’s grace and enlightenment.

Regarding the regulation of wearing a veil, the apostle Paul teaches very strictly in Corinthians 11.

【1Cor 1:1-2】 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on to you.

【1Cor 11:16】 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice–nor do the churches of God.

The regulation that woman wear a veil is a teaching how to honor and glorify Jesus based on the principle of the creation. The apostle Paul taught that another expression of His great love in the New Covenant Passover was the regulation in Corinthians, and how the principle of creation, the head and the body as one body, should work in the church.

Incidentally, the doctrine of woman’s wearing a veil is different from the controversial issues of gender discrimination or feminism. There are many parts of God’s Word that are hard to understand by approaching humanism or man-made ideas and philosophies.

The apostle Paul anticipates this controversy and tells us in Scripture that no one in Jesus Christ is personally discriminated. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”(Gal3:28)

Looking more closely at 1 Corinthians 11, it begins with the words that the ritual of wearing a veil is a significant inheritance of the priciple of creation (men and women originally created for different images and roles). And in the new covenant truth it leads to the words that the meaning should be extended to the basic principles of the church and faith. At that time, the Corinthians were encouraged by the apostle Paul not to be imbued with pagan humanistic and secular philosophies, but to harmoniously embrace the inheritance of the early church within a range of social courtesy, which means that a humble woman covers her head with a veil in public.

How is Christianity all over the world today, even though it was considered an important rule to be observed in the early church of the Apostolic Age and even in the Corinthian church located in Gentile area?

Imagine the appearance of the Catholic Church. It seems biblical to see a woman wearing a veil. But what about the pope or cardinal? It is against God’s will by wearing a hat on his head while collecting a mass. It is a false worship that turns away the order of creation that man is the glory of God. It is a fact that they were contaminated with their rituals by following the traditions of the Roman pagon priests during the dark centuries.

It is a historical fact that the Catholic Church is the product of religious convergence policy promoted by the Roman emperor Constantine. In order to strengthen the status of the emperor, Christian ideology was introduced in the Roman Empire, but in order to minimize the opposition of polytheistic native religions, it was true that various forms of sun worship were brought into the church.

Now think about Protestantism. Protestant churches that don’t use a veil at all will not need to be explained for a long time. They are making the mistake of considering Christ as low as the Saints by not wearing a veil on their heads. Of course, most church members don’t know if there is such a wrong meaning in their worship.

Finally, let’s think about World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG). They admire their patriarch, Jang Gil-ja (born in 1943) as God. They insist that there is an equal presence between the male God and the female God. In order to make such a claim, a self-proclaimed woman, Jang Gil-ja, would have to worship without wearing a veil on her head. Furthermore, not all women should wear the veil on their head. But in fact, they’re not doing that, so it’s like seeing a funny comedy.

Today, in the Christian denominations around the world, both the Catholic Church and the Protestant Church have been messed up without properly practicing the doctrine of wearing a veil.
