I, About the Elohim

1) Evidence of Moses, Jesus, and the Apostle Paul

【Gen 1:27】 God(Elohim=gods) created man in his own image, in the image of God(Elohim=gods) he created him; male and female he created them.

Here the ‘Elohim’ is a plural noun ‘gods’ in Hebrew. However, when referring to God the Father in the Bible, it does not mean plural “gods,” but always means the singular God. Moses, the author of Genesis, made clear such a meaning of Elohim.

【Deut 6:4-5】 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God(Elohim), the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God(Elohim) with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

The above verse, “The Lord our God(Elohim) is one”, means that we should serve our only one God(Elohim) with all our heart and with all our heart. This means that Elohim is not plural but one God in singular.

Next, let’s look at how Jesus, who used Hebrew directly as his native language, understood “Elohim” at the time. Because the words of Jesus are the most accurate knowledge we must have. If someone gives us different knowledge from Jesus, we must reject it.

【Mark 12:29-32】 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God(Elohim), the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ …… “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God(Elohim) is one and there is no other but him.

Since there was no New Testament at the time of Jesus, the word ‘God’ in the above verse describes the Old Testament Elohim. You can see that Jesus and the teachers of the law understood the Elohim God as one, singular.

Next, the apostle Paul said of the one God, Elohim.

【1Tim6:15】 which God(Elohim) will bring about in his own time–God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

【1Cor 8:4】 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God(Elohim) but one.

Elohim is not a union of God the Father and God the Mother. It is not such one. Elohim means one God the Father, and so God is called ‘only Ruler’.

2) In the Ten Commandments

Through the Ten Commandments, God(Elohim) made it very clear whether he was one God in singular or two God in plural.

【Exo 20:1-2】 God(Elohim) spoke all these words: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me.

God(Elohim) said, “I am” and “before me”. God(Elohim) whom we have to serve according the first commendment is not “gods” of ‘we or us’ in plural, but the one God of ‘I or me’ in singular. Through the Ten Commandments, God(Elohim) made it clear that His being is not plural but singular. Therefore, if we do not worship Elohim as the singular God of “I,” but rather serve as plural “us,” it is an idolatry that violates the first commandment.

3) Evidence of the Prophet Isaiah

【Deu 6:4】 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

Here is the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah.

【Isa 40:3】 A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD ; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God(Elohim).

John the Baptist cried out that God(Elohim) prophesied in Isa40:3 would be Jesus.

【Luke 3:4】 As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord(Jesus), make straight paths for him(Jesus).

If “Elohim” meant plural God like Father and Mother, according to the prophecy of Isaiah, not only Jesus would have come to this earth, but Jesus and Mother God would have come together. But only Jesus(God/Elohim the Lord) came. The word is plural grammatically, but the actual meaning is singular when referring to God(Elohim) the Lord(Jehovah). It does not mean that the Father and Mother are united as one, but that the Father is alone.

【1Tim 6:15】 God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

II. About Heavenly Family and Earthly Family

【Heb 8:5】 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

WMSCOG has officially explained as belows about ‘heavenly family and earthly family’ in their publications.

『These words of Hebrews 8:5, “a copy and shadow of what is in heaven”, refer to the “family system” of earth and heaven. This means that there are God the Father, God the Mother, and children in the heaven, just as there are fathers, mothers, and children in the shadowy earthly family.』

WMSCOG assumed the offering system as a model and shadow of the family system without any basis. Logically, too much jump. God allowed the sacrificial system on earth according to the heavenly sacrificial system. It has nothing to do with the family system.

They distorted the word about the sacrificial system as a word about the family system, thereby creating a justification for God the Mother.

After perverting in a completely different meaning from the original meaning of the Bible, they deceive the church members by mistaking the existence of Heavenly Mother as if it were based on the Bible. If you take a closer look, you can see that the phrase “a model and a shadow of what is in heaven” never refers to a family system.

Now let’s see why the old covenant offerings are models and shadows of the new covenant offerings.

1) The old covenant was made by Jehovah, and the new covenant was made by Jesus.

2) The old covenant was made with the blood of the beast, and the new covenant was made with the blood of Jesus.

3) The old covenant sanctuary is on earth, and the new covenant sanctuary is in heaven.

4) The old covenant service is offered in the earthly sanctuary, and the new covenant service is offered in the heavenly sanctuary.

5) The old covenant priest is very weak following the order of Aaron. But the new covenant priest is an eternal and perfect priest following the order of Melchizedek.

Old Testament people could not receive full forgiveness from the old covenant sacrifices of the beast’s blood. We can receive complete forgiveness through the new covenant established by the blood of Jesus.

Thus, the book of Hebrews describes the sacrifice of the old covenant that did not have the effect of forgiveness of sins:

【Heb 8:5】 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

<Heb10:1> The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming–not the realities themselves.

“A sanctuary they serve” means the offering system in which the Israelites served Jehovah God in the Old Testament. The old covenant sacrifice, where the Old Testament Israelites served Jehovah God, is a copy and shadow of a new covenant sacrifice that will be offered in the heavenly sanctuary by the New Testament saints. No evidence can be found to generalize the offering system into the family system.
